Locally produced and organic
We strive for all our food to be locally produced and organic. Most of it we buy in our own little village at Monsieur Andrés which has a small organic shop with goods from local producers or at the market that is on the square every Thursday.
At Monsieur Andrés, we “subscribe” to levain bread from the area’s absolute best organic bakery, eggs and of course the award-winning local chèvre cheese every week. The olive oil comes either from our friend Monsieur Max, the village charmer, who grows his olive trees on the outskirts of the village or one of the winemakers who also make olive oil.
We are constantly on the lookout for new local small producers and are constantly developing our range. Right now we have found a magical brebis yogurt, smooth as velvet and really creamy. In addition, a man who is by profession a “cheese refiner”, i.e. he stores and refines cheeses. In addition, a woman in our village who makes magically good little treats and cake for your coffee.
Breakfast
The breakfast buffet included in the room rate consists of coffee/tea, fresh bread (often levain but also traditional baguette), croissant or other typical French breakfast patisserie, yogurt, our own granola, seasonal marmalades (homemade from friendly neighbor’s fruit), local cheeses, ham, fresh fruit and eggs cooked in slightly different ways. One of our guests’ favourite is our specialty with croissants filled with creamy scrambled eggs and fresh spices. Yum! All organic and locally produced as far as possible.
Picnic
If you want to go on a picnic or rent a bike and tour the area, we are happy to make a picnic basket for you.
Table d’hotes
Two evenings a week we cook dinner for our guests, normally on Monday and Thursday. We start on the terrace and have an apéro with some good wine in the glasses and snacks. Then follows a dinner with starter, main course, good cheeses and the house’s dessert. Everything is served together with a wine package of carefully selected wines from our winemakers. Thursdays with our oysters, moules frites and our own crème brûlée dinner have now become a classic and many guests book their trips here over a Thursday just to join in. The oysters and mussels come from our own fisherman who catches them in Etang de Thau, of course they are served with local Pic Poul wine from our friend Christophe. We eat together on the terrace or in our dining room. Here in France, meals can take time, time to cook and above all time to eat and socialize, so expect a full evening of good food, good wine and lovely conversations.
Our wines
Wine, yes it is everywhere here but Neffiés can pride itself on having some of the absolute best vineyards just around us. All our wines come from small independent winemakers who produce organic, biodynamic, natural wines. We are very proud of our wine list and of course you can order these wines free of charge from us and they are delivered to your front door in Sweden. Maybe something for you who have not yet had time to visit us? If you want to know more about our wines and subscribe to our newsletter about wine, you will find it here >
** If you have any special diet or dietary wishes, we will of course make sure to fix it.
